If you’re a practicing attorney, “making” Best Lawyers is important — especially the more consumer/small business facing your practice is (versus large corporate) — but it doesn’t make you special. It’s important because 115,000 lawyers make the list, so if you’re not on it, it begs the question: “Why?”

Well, like most “credentials” that are important to general reputation building, they need a bit of extra effort to make them special; to make them help you stand out.
Humor and some self-depreciation often goes a long way. Here is how we did it a few years ago for MoginRubin. Not only did clients get a kick out of it, Dan Mogin was the only “Best Lawyer” to have his ranking covered by The National Law Journal.
